Tara Gillen of Derry, N.H. and Erica Lemire of Plaistow, N.H. volunteered as team captains. Other team members included Charlene D. Laprel, of Haverhill; Elizabeth Hannah, of Hampstead, N.H. and Maria A. Karcasinas of Haverhill. Thomas O. Faulkner, of Salem, N.H. and Justin Sanchez of Haverhill, participated in the “Miss Relay” contest.

“One of the great things about Greater Haverhill is the way in which members of the community always come together to support each other and help others. I am thrilled with the level of participation from staff and customers alike, and we are all looking forward to participating again next year,” said Haverhill Bank President and CEO Thomas L. Mortimer.

“All together 914 people participated in the event, raising more than $136,000 –– exceeding our overall goal by more than $10,000,” said American Cancer Society Representative Jennifer Wassan. “It’s always exciting to see so many people dedicated to an important cause that impacts so many families throughout the community,” she said.

This event is the American Cancer Society’s signature event. Unlike other fundraising walks, the Relay For Life is a “relay” style event. Each participating team aims to have a team member on the track at all times for the duration of the event. The events are typically 24-hours.
